If you’ve been following tech companies over the past couple of years you understand that there’s a process by which they start, usually, they start with invitations and gradually move towards open enrollment. This happened with Facebook and Gmail. As of today, Pinterest has dropped the invite status and moved to opened enrollment.
What this means for small businesses:
First, it means you don’t have to wait for an invite anymore. You can post pictures of your business up on Pinterest instantly.
Second, along with the open sign up, Pinterest added a new list of categories including: Quotes, Tattoos, Weddings, which joined old standbys Food and Drink, Architecture, and Home the Decor.
Pinterest also reported that they’ve changed old categories and improved them so people will see less mis-categorized pics as they search on the boards.
Pinterest is one of the fastest growing social networks online. The verdict is still out on how it can help small businesses, specifically, brick-and-mortar businesses. However, it is the third largest social network in the United States, behind only Facebook and Twitter.
So, with Pinterest open to the public, the only question left to ask is, will you sign up your business for a Pinterest account? Tell us in the comments section below.
